Roanoke Rapids Police make quick arrest in double shooting incident

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department has made a quick arrest following a double shooting. RRPD reports that D-Squad officers responded to a disturbance in the 700 block of Washington Street around 11:30 a.m. on September 15, 2024.

Authorities say two individuals suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The scene was secured and 52-year-old Calvin Louis Robinson was reportedly arrested while trying to leave the scene.

RRPD says the weapon used was found on the suspect and immediately seized. The two victims were taken to ECU North for treatment. It is believed that the shooting stemmed from an argument between Robinson and two others.

The two victims were not armed with weapons and were shot in non-vital areas of the body, according to authorities. Robinson has been charged with two counts of Assault Inflicting Serious Injury.
