On November 22, 2023, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll announced that missing 46-year-old Lara Emanuele’s remains were located by Ramapo Search and Rescue, with the help of its K9, Denali.
Lara Emanuele of Roxbury, New Jersey was reported missing on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, when she failed to return home after work. On June 8, authorities located Emanuele’s vehicle outside the Holiday Inn Express on Howard Boulevard in Mount Arlington. A search of the vehicle produced a note indicating the 46-year-old Morristown teacher did not want to be located.
Walmart CCTV footage showed Emanuele getting out of her vehicle, inside shopping, and departing alone. A coordinated search of the Berkshire Valley State Wildlife Management Area was initiated on June 9. The Ramapo Search and Rescue Organization continued weekly searches of the area.
With the help of Denali, Ramapo Search and Rescue located Emanuele’s remains in a wooded area off Howard Boulevard and Route 80 on November 19, 2023. The Medical Examiner’s Office has listed the cause and manner of death as undetermined.
