Randall Lee Rose indicted by Knox County Grand Jury in missing person case from 2013

The Knoxville Police Department reports that 61-year-old Randall Lee Rose was recently indicted by a Knox County Grand Jury for the murder of a woman who was reported missing in Knoxville in March 2013.

KPD says Rose was indicted for First-Degree Murder in the death of 58-year-old Sharon Leinart. The victim was reported missing in March 2013.

At the time, Leinart was homeless and was last seen at Volunteer Ministries in the 500 block of North Broadway. Police say a family member allegedly spoke to the victim in late January.

At the time, the victim reported that she was staying at a Knoxville-area motel. KPD confirms Leinart was never seen again and her body was never recovered. Rose is currently serving a life sentence for another murder that happened in Jackson in 2021.

KPD says Rose provided information that he was involved in a murder in Knoxville. KPD’s Homicide Unit detectives say they were able to connect Rose to the disappearance and death of Leinart.

Rose is scheduled to be arraigned on December 3, 2024.
