The Fairfax County Police Department has announced the arrest of the Chief of Police of Prince George’s Community College for driving while intoxicated after allegedly causing a two-vehicle crash in Fair Lakes.
According to FCPD, officers responded to the intersection of Random Hills Road and Fairfax Hills Way for a two-vehicle crash around 7:30 p.m. on December 6, 2024. Police say officers learned that 55-year-old Derek Myers was traveling eastbound on Random Hills Way in a Hyundai Elantra when he lost control of the vehicle.
It is alleged that Myers entered the westbound lanes and struck the victim’s Honda CRV. The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Myers was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives say Myers’ blood alcohol content level was approximately 0.28 at the time of crash. Myers turned himself into authorities and was charged with DUI Maiming. He is currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
