The Portsmouth Police Department has announced a sentence in connection to a cold case murder. According to PPD, Cameron Lamar Parker pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Michelle McClendon on December 11, 2024.
Police say officers responded to an early morning call about shots fired in the 500 block of Chautauqua Avenue on November 7, 2011. At the scene, officers found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
PPD later identified the victim as 42-year-old Michelle McClendon. PPD’s Criminal Investigations Bureau assigned the case to a cold case investigator in September 2023. PPD says the investigator eventually identified the suspect as 42-year-old Cameron Parker.
