According to Portland Police, North Precinct Officers captured a robber in the act. A Portland Police Bureau news release explains that officers were dispatched to a robbery at a convenience store in the 6500 block of North Greeley Avenue on November 17, 2023 just before 1 AM. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect claimed he had a gun before leaving with an unspecified amount of money.
A North Precinct officer started watching another convenience store at North Killingsworth Street and North Greeley Avenue. Approximately an hour after the first robbery, the officer witnessed the suspect entering the store. The officer requested backup and came up with a plan to address the crime in progress. The Portland Police Bureau announced that the suspect was arrested in the store and was armed with a firearm.
24-year-old Kirmarji T. Trent-Grant, of Portland, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. Trent-Grant was facing charges of Robbery in the First Degree with a Firearm, Robbery in the Second Degree with a Firearm, and Attempted Robbery in the First Degree with a Firearm. A Major Crimes Unit detective has linked Trent-Grant to other open robbery cases.
On November 24, 2023, Trent-Grant was indicted for four counts of Robbery in the First Degree with a Firearm, four counts of Robbery in the Second Degree with a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Public.
