Walhalla, South Carolina – The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has announced charges against a Salem man in connection to a missing person and kidnapping that occurred earlier Sunday morning.
According to an OCSO statement, a judge has denied bond for 28-year-old Zackery Steven Cosgrove on charges of Kidnapping and Grand Larceny. He was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center just before 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Earlier this morning, OCSO issued a news release regarding a 9-year-old girl, Braelynn Ann Blaire, who was missing and the victim of a kidnapping.
It is alleged that Cosgrove stole a 2019 Nissan Rogue with his niece, Braelynn, inside. An AMBER Alert was eventually issued. The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office located the victim.
Cosgrove was taken into custody and Braelynn was found safe. Braelynn was transported back to Oconee County where she was reunited with family.
