A 33-year-old male driver allegedly fled a traffic stop and led New York State Police on a 16-mile pursuit on November 6, 2023, at approximately 8:51 a.m. The vehicle pursuit began on State Route 40 in Easton and ended in Troy on the Uncle Sam Bikeway. The vehicle was still moving when the driver jumped out and fled on the foot. The vehicle finally came to a stop after colliding with a marked Troop car.
Troy Police joined New York State Police in a ground search but the driver got away. Police say that the driver dropped several bags containing multiple controlled substances.
On November 8, 2023, officers located the driver, identified as Malquan L. Jordan, in Saugerties Town Court, where he was arrested.
Jordan was charged with Criminal Mischief, multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, and other traffic violations and remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility.
