The New Smyrna Police Department reports that 36-year-old Timothy Preston has been arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting on Thanksgiving day.
According to NSBPD, officers responded to a residence on Sunset Drive in reference to a drive-by shooting. Authorities say residents reported hearing loud popping sounds coming from outside and found bullet holes in their garage door and vehicles outside.
NSBPD says officers were able to identify a vehicle and person of interest. The vehicle was reportedly found pulling into a gas station in Oak Hill.
NSBPD says it arrested Timothy Preston of South Daytona with help from the Edgewater Police Department and the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
Preston has been charged with four counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Discharging a Firearm in Public, Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle, Criminal Mischief, and Shooting into a Dwelling/Vehicle/Building.
Preston is being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond. According to NSBPD, an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle was located and determined to be stolen. Police believe it is the firearm used in the shooting.
