New Orleans Police are investigating a homicide in the 2200 block of Canal Street that killed one and injured another. Homicide Section detectives are investigating. According to a press release from the NOPD, First District officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 2200 block of Canal Street just before 8 PM on November 22.
Once officers arrived, they found an unresponsive adult male who had multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was declared deceased. Investigators say they learned that a second adult male had arrived at a hospital via private conveyance for treatment of a gunshot wound.
It was later determined that the second victim was injured in the same incident. Investigators are gathering evidence to try to identify a suspect or suspects as well as a motive. No additional information is available at this time.
