Nashua man arrested after Bedford Police officer shot in the leg

Bedford, New Hampshire – Chief Daniel Douidi said in a statement that 40-year-old Jared Masseur is in custody after a BPD officer was shot early Saturday.

Masseur is charged with Resisting Arrest or Detention, Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Attempting to Take a Firearm from a Law Enforcement Officer, and Second-Degree Assault.

Authorities say Masseur had outstanding warrants on charges of Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of Drugs. Around 12:53 a.m. on January 4, BPD officers observed a suspicious vehicle with a male and female parked near the Country Inn & Suites on South River Road.

Masseur allegedly fled from officers. As officers attempted to apprehend Masseur, he allegedly resisted and began fighting. Authorities say a gun discharged as Masseur reached for one of the officer’s holsters and attempted to take the officer’s service firearm.

The gun fired leading to the officer being struck in the leg. K-9 Odin responded to the struggle and helped apprehend Masseur. The injured officer was taken to a Manchester hospital for treatment.
