Milpitas, California – The Milpitas Police Department has identified the suspect and victims in a murder-suicide at the Turning Apartments. According to MPD, officers responded to the apartment complex at 1355 McCandless Drive for a welfare check around 9 p.m. on December 17, 2024.

Police say officers gained access to the apartment and found 36-year-old Vinh Nguyen, 36-year-old Betty Pham, and their two children, aged 4 and 9, deceased inside.

The victims all appeared to have a single gunshot wound, according to MPD. Authorities allege that Vinh Nguyen was responsible for the fatal shootings. Police say a handgun legally registered to Nguyen was found at the scene.
