Update – Authorities say Mavis Christian Jr. was later found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased.
The Memphis Police Department is investigating three shootings connected to the same suspect. At 9:22 PM, officers responded to the 100 block of Howard Drive in reference to a shooting. At the scene, officers located a female with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. During the investigation, authorities determined that the scene and two other recent shootings were connected and involved the same suspect.
Three females were shot at 3636 Field Lark Drive. Two females are deceased and one is in critical condition. At 5050 Warrington Road, one female victim was killed. At 196 Howard Drive, another female was killed. The Memphis Police Department identified Mavis Christian Jr. as the suspect. Anyone with information about Christian’s whereabouts should call 911 immediately.
Authorities stress that the suspect should not be approached because he is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Police say preliminary information suggests this was a domestic violence incident and the suspect is a known relative. The suspect reportedly fled each scene in a white 2017 Chevrolet Malibu with Tennessee tag #390-BHTM.
