The Mattawa Police Department reports that it is investigating a shooting that occurred on Saturday. According to MPD, a shots fired call was reported just before 11 p.m. on December 7.

MPD says officers and members of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene in the 100 block of 2nd  Street and recovered evidence of the incident in two separate areas.

A short time later, officers were informed that a victim was being transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to MPD.

MPD says the victim is being uncooperative. Authorities believe the shooting was gang related. No other details are available at this time.
