Martin County, Florida – The Martin County Sheriff’s Office says one of its deputies was injured during a serious car crash on State Road 76 in front of the St. Lucie Mobile Village.
According to MCSO, the preliminary investigation indicates that the deputy was attempting to stop a traffic violator who was heading westbound. Another vehicle allegedly pulled out in front of the patrol vehicle.
The patrol vehicle overturned and struck a tree. MCSO says the other vehicle involved in the collision also collided with a tree. The deputy was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Four occupants of the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. MCSO says the road will likely remain closed for another hour or longer.
