Lenoir County Sheriff arrests juvenile for starting fires at EB Frink Middle School

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a juvenile for starting fires on Thursday and Saturday at E.B. Frink Middle School in La Grange.

LCSO reports that deputies responded to the school due to an alarm around 6 p.m. on Thursday. Deputies reportedly found a wreath on fire at the front door of the school.

The fire was extinguished and authorities initiated an investigation. LCSO says it was able to gather a suspect description using the school’s security footage. Around 1 p.m. on Saturday, the La Grange Volunteer Fire Department responded to E.B. Frink Middle School again for a fire at an outbuilding.

Authorities say the fire caused substantial damage to the building. LCSO says it deputies found a juvenile suspect matching the description of the suspect on security footage. The juvenile, who is a former Frink student, was also carrying a stolen and loaded firearm, according to LCSO.

The juvenile was booked into the Pitt County Juvenile Detention Center. The juvenile is charged with Possession of a Weapon on Education Property, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, Damage to Real Property, Breaking and Entering, Second-Degree Trespassing, and two counts of Burning of Schoolhouses or Buildings of Educational Institutions.
