Killeen Police investigating fatal shooting at Best Western Plus on Cunningham Road

Killeen, Texas – The Killeen Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting at the Best Western Plus at 2709 Cunningham Road.

According to a TPD media release, officers responded to the location around 1:18 p.m. on January 2 for multiple reports of shots fired.

At the scene, responding officers found an unconscious female and a male suffering from gunshot wounds. The 34-year-old male victim was airlifted to Baylor Smith & White.

Police say the victim was conscious and alert. The female victim, Jazmien Rae’Lynn Hernandez, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

KPD believes the 34-year-old male was engaged in a verbal altercation with a 32-year-old male outside the motel. Both individuals exchanged shots resulting in injuries to each other and the female.

KPD says witnesses reported that the 32-year-old male fled the scene on foot. A short time later, a man arrived at an area hospital with gunshot wounds. Officers reportedly verified that he was the man who had fled on foot.

The two men are listed in stable condition.
