Hurst, Texas – The Hurst Police Department has provided an update on the incident that occurred at the North East Mall at 1101 Melbourne Road. According to HPD, two uniformed officers in the area were flagged down near the Food Court and informed that someone had fired a weapon in the mall around 4:49 p.m. on December 22, 2024.
The officers called for additional units and the mall was put into lockdown. HPD says officers discovered that two men were involved in a verbal disturbance near the Food Court and both displayed handguns.
According to police, neither man fired a shot. The men were detained by officers at different locations just before 5 p.m. HPD says both men were arrested for Disorderly Conduct and additional charges are possible.
Following the incident, the North East Mall returned to normal operations.
