Houston, Texas – The Houston Police Department has announced the arrest of 17-year-old Joshua Garcia in connection to a fatal shooting at 8800 Hammerly Boulevard around 12:45 p.m. on July 20, 2024.

In a statement, officials said that Garcia is charged with Murder. A 16-year-old female suspect was already in custody. She is referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a charge of capital murder.

HPD has identified the victim as 14-year-old Abraham Choukair. According to HPD, patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex and found an unresponsive male with gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle.

The victim, Choukair, was pronounced deceased. Authorities say the preliminary investigation determined that the victim was last seen in the parking lot talking to a female who was followed by an unknown male suspect.
