The Greensboro Police Department has identified the victim of a homicide early Monday morning. According to GPD, officers responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on I-40 West just past NC 68 around 3:02 a.m.

GPD says the 911 caller reported that the driver was unresponsive. Officers found the driver, 41-year-old Cesar Ignacio Sanchez, deceased in the driver’s seat of a black Ram pickup truck.

GPD says the victim suffered injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. GPD is investigating the death as a homicide. No other details are available at this time.
