Galveston Police arrest 17-year-old after fleeing vehicle strikes building

The Galveston Police Department says a 17-year-old has been charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana. According to GPD, its officers observed a black Chrysler 300 traveling at a high rate of speed and run a red light at the intersection of 8th and Avenue J around 1:29 a.m. on December 7.

GPD says an officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver evaded police before hitting a building in the 1000 block of Seawall while attempting to make a turn.

Police say the driver and another passenger exited the vehicle and were taken into custody. Two female passengers were also found inside the vehicle. All four occupants were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to GPD.

17-year-old Ayden Martinez has been charged with Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Marijuana.
