Around 4:47 PM on November 17, 2023, Freemont Police Officers were sent to the 4100 block of Walnut Avenue for a report of a stabbing. At the scene, police found two adult male victims who sustained stab wounds. Officers began providing medical aid before the victims were transported to the hospital. A 23-year-old male victim remained in stable condition. A 30-year-old male victim was in critical condition. Police obtained surveillance footage of the incident and spoke to multiple witnesses.
According to a social media post from the Fremont Police Department, authorities identified 28-year-old Miguel Angel Villareal as the suspect. After following up on several leads, Villareal was taken into custody without incident several hours later. Police say Villareal has a lengthy criminal history, including an arrest for robbery, resisting an officer, and battery on a person inflicting serious bodily injury.
The motive for the crime is unknown although the case is still under investigation. Villareal was arrested on two counts of attempted murder. He is set to be arraigned on November 22, 2023.
