State Attorney Larry Basford announced in a statement that a Fountain man found guilty of two counts of Sexual Battery against a young girl had been given consecutive life sentences on Monday. Circuit Court Judge Timothy Register designated 23-year-old Brandon Paul Janssen as a Sexual Predator. Janssen had been charged with two counts of Sexual Battery on a Victim 12 years of age or older but less than 18 years of age.
The offenses took place in 2020. After an investigation into the allegations, Janssen was arrested by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office. During the trial, Prosecutor Jeff Moore called six witnesses including the victim, and presented evidence proving that Janssen committed the acts. It took jurors about an hour to return a guilty verdict following Prosecutor Moore’s closing argument.
