The Lewisville Police Department has announced charges against a former officer. According to LPD, the officer has been charged with Official Oppression and Sexual assault in connection to a Thanksgiving week incident. The officer, Filemon Perez, is accused of engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct with a citizen.
LPD is not identifying the victim at this time. LPD says it initiated two separate but concurrent investigations after being notified of the incident. The Texas Rangers helped LPD Criminal Investigators.
LPD says Perez was initially placed on administrative leave with pay while the internal and criminal investigations continued through the week. On Tuesday, Perez resigned after being informed he would be terminated for violating City Administrative Directives.
On Wednesday, warrants were obtained for Perez’s arrest. Just recently, Lewisville Police Chief Brook Rollins detailed disciplinary action for multiple officers involved in misconduct surrounding prostitution investigations.
The Chief said Perez was not among those officers and the incident is unrelated. Perez had been with the department since May 2023. He had a written reprimand in September for failing to activate his body-worn camera during a traffic stop.
