On September 17, 2023 just after 1 AM, El Paso Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 12300 block of Tierra Inca. Once they reached the scene, police discovered multiple individuals with gunshot wounds. A 19-year-old male victim passed away after being transported to a local hospital. The Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Detectives initiated a thorough investigation. Police say the residence where the incident happened was rented as a Vrbo by high school students for a Montwood High School homecoming after-party.

The El Paso Police Department identified two of the victims. 14-year-old Julia Worthington and 19-year-old Eliel Omar Bultron Hernandez died. Police say Worthington had been hospitalized since the incident but passed away. Injured victims include an 18-year-old male from Socorro, a 19-year-old male from El Paso, and a 16-year-old male from El Paso.

El Paso Police updated this incident saying that a warrant was obtained for 18-year-old Angel Avila for Capital Murder on November 16, 2023. Avila was arrested by the US Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
