The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a homicide suspect. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened at a residence on Humboldt Road around 10:45 p.m. on December 29, 2023. The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived, but he was apprehended around midnight near the 100 block of Bertsch Avenue.

The Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Matthew Rickner. No further details are available at this time. The investigation is being handled by Del Norte County Sheriff Sergeant McClaflin and investigator Balch.
