DeKalb, Illinois – The DeKalb Police Department said in a social media statement that it has arrested a suspect in the death of Jasmine Dejournette.
According to DPD, officers responded to 820 West Hillcrest Drive for a report of an unresponsive female on January 7, 2025. Police were greeted at the apartment door by Devonne Montgomery.
DPD says its officers found the victim, Jasmine Dejournette, on the floor of the first level apartment, unconscious, and not breathing. Authorities say Jasmine appeared to have significant facial injuries.
The victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. DPD’s Investigative Division said it obtained probable cause to arrest Devonne L. Montgomery for the death of Jasmine Dejournette.
On January 8, Montgomery was arrested on two counts of First-Degree Murder, one count of Aggravated Domestic Battery, and one count of Unlawful Possession of Weapon by a Felon.
Authorities say Montgomery had previously been convicted of Aggravated Battery/Discharge Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Use Weapon/Vehicle.
