The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a murder-suicide that left two dead in Mentone. According to authorities, the DeKalb County 911 center received a call from an individual in Mentone who reported that there were multiple fatalities at his residence on December 6, 2024.
Authorities say the caller disclosed that he had shot his wife and their dogs. He also expressed intent to take his life. The dispatchers continued to engage the man until the call was disconnected.
Once deputies reached the scene, they found the bodies of a man, a woman, and two dogs with gunshot wounds. Authorities believe the man killed the dogs and woman before killing himself. No other details are available at this time.
