According to a social media post from the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, Jeremy Pierce has been arrested following a short pursuit. Deputies attempted to stop a suspected alcohol-impaired driver on November 22, 2023. The driver refused to stop and led deputies on a short pursuit. Police say the driver dropped two 10-year-old children from the vehicle and proceeded westbound on Hermit Road.
Police allege that the driver threw objects out of his vehicle at deputies including rocks. Eventually, the driver was stopped approximately seven miles west of Westcliffe past CR 160. Authorities say a Taser was deployed during the arrest of Jeremy Pierce. Police allege that Pierce used the children to breathe into an interlock device designed to stop him from driving under the influence of alcohol.
Pierce has been charged with the following offenses.
- Contributing to the delinquency of a minor
- Violation of a protection order
- Child abuse
- Drove vehicle under the influence of alcohol
- Drove vehicle with excess alcohol content
- Reckless endangerment
- Eluding a police officer
- Careless driving
- Drove motor vehicle with license under restraint
Authorities say Pierce is being held at the Fremont County Jail pending a bond decision. According to police, Pierce has been arrested on the following cases this year with the following bond amounts.
- 2023M7 $500 PR bond
- 2023M22 unknown or $0 bond
- 2023M23 $1000 surety bond
- 2023M5005 $1000 PR bond
