The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office says a man is behind bars after allegedly shooting at a local fiber Internet company employee.
According to HCSO, deputies responded to the 100 block of Lee Lane Road due to a gunshot being fired in the area on November 30, 2024. Authorities say it was determined that a man fired a shot at employees of a local fiber Internet company.
Authorities say the employees were going door to door in the neighborhood offering internet service to homeowners.
HCSO identified the suspect as Larry Mickey Scott who declined the service and closed the door. Authorities allege Scott came back outside armed with his shotgun which he aimed at one of the employees and fired.
Authorities say a shotgun was seized after a search warrant was executed at Scott’s residence. Scott has been charged with Possession of Firearm by Felon, Assault by Pointing a Gun, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
HCSO says Scott was given a $12,500 bond with a December 11, 2024 court date. The employee was not injured, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
