Police have arrested a Ledyard, Connecticut man for animal cruelty after he brought an emaciated dog to a vet and the dog had to be euthanized. On Monday around 11 AM, police were dispatched to the Groton-Ledyard Vet Clinic on Lorenz Parkway to investigate a possible case of animal abuse. A police officer met a Ledyard animal control officer who had been speaking with the veterinarian.
The police officer was informed that a Ledyard man had brought a badly neglected dog in for treatment. After speaking to the Ledyard man, police arrested him and charged him with cruelty to animals. Police confirmed that another dog in the man’s apartment was removed because of its condition. The man is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on November 20.
34-year-old Richard Perez was charged with cruelty to animals.
