The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating a freeway shooting that occurred on eastbound State Route 24 near Fish Ranch Road.
According to CHP, officers with the Contra Costa Area office responded to a report of a shooting near the Fish Ranch Road onramp around 10:30 p.m. on December 8, 2024.
Police say the driver of the victim’s vehicle called 911 and reported that two occupants of the vehicle had been struck by gunfire. The driver and one passenger were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Special Investigations Unit personnel responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. CHPD says all lanes of eastbound SR-24 were closed for approximately an hour.
