Buffalo Police arrest four suspects in connection to shooting on Bird Avenue

Four individuals have been arrested in connection to a shooting on Bird Avenue on August 3, 2024. The Buffalo Police Department reports that Northwest District officers responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Bird Avenue around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

At the scene, responding officers found a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was treated at the scene before being transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives initiated an investigation. As officers were responding to the scene, they witnessed a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle that fled the shooting scene.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled traveling inbound on the 33. Officers followed the vehicle and saw multiple items being thrown from the car. Eventually, the vehicle stopped and the occupants fled near Tifft Street and Fuhrmann Boulevard.

Four occupants were apprehended and two weapons were recovered from the base of the Skyway. BPD says the weapons recovered include a Glock 19 with a loaded magazine and a loaded Springfield Armory Hellcat.

A 17-year-old male was arrested. 21-year-old Mekhi Harwell, 22-year-old Keith Jackson-Martin, and 38-year-old Edward Harwell were arrested. All suspects are charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

BPD has identified the victim as 21-year-old Kabah Kabah of Buffalo.
