Boone County Sheriff’s Office investigating shooting incident involving juveniles

Boone County, Kentucky – The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident involving juveniles. According to a BCSO media release, deputies responded to the 3100 block of Featherstone Drive for a report of shots fired around 10:13 p.m. on December 21, 2024.

Deputies found a victim who suffered a gun wound. Detectives say an 18-year-old gunshot victim and his 16-year-old friend met the 17-year-old suspect to make a drug transaction.

During a dispute, the suspect allegedly fired multiple shots in the direction of the victim while fleeing from the scene. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the forearm, according to BCSO.

The Sheriff’s Office says the victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities arrested the suspect and carried out a search warrant at his residence in Burlington.

Detectives say they recovered the handgun used in the shooting. The handgun was allegedly found buried in the backyard. Detectives also say they found marijuana and other THC products.

The juvenile suspect was booked in the Campbell County Regional Juvenile Detention Center on charges of Assault 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, and Trafficking in Marijuana.
