The Anchorage Police Department has announced the arrest of Mid-Shift Patrol Officer Aaron Richwine who is charged with Operating Under the Influence.
According to APD, the incident occurred on November 19, 2024. Richwine was released per the bail schedule and will appear in court on January 23, 2025.
APD says its Dispatch received a call for a vehicle in distress around 8:17 a.m. on November 19, 2024. APD received a report of a vehicle in a ditch near the 5400 block of Lake Otis Parkway.
APD says the caller stated they believed the driver was impaired and that the driver had left the area on foot. According to Anchorage Police, responding officers confirmed that the vehicle was Richwine’s personal vehicle and he was off-duty at the time.
Police say he was located at a nearby residence. Police administered a Standardized Field Sobriety Text before Richwine was taken into custody. He was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of APD’s administrative investigation and any external legal proceedings.
