Albany County, New York – The Albany County District Attorney Lee Kindlon announced that 43-year-old Anthony Ojeda had been sentenced to 20 years in prison for manslaughter in the first degree in connection to the death of a child who was just 47 days old.
Honorable Roger D. McDonough announced the sentence. The investigation spanned five years and reportedly sent law enforcement on a manhunt from Cohoes to Mexico City to obtain justice for Baby Eli.
Authorities say the child died after ingesting toxic levels of methamphetamine that was given to him by Ojeda.
Ojeda’s husband, Neil Garzon, pleaded guilty to first-degree hindering prosecution and endangering the welfare of a child. Garzon will be sentenced on January 17.
