Adams County, Colorado – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for the family of an approximately one-month-old baby boy who was left in the median of Pecos Street wearing only a diaper and sitting in a car seat/carrier.
Police say the child was left around 7490 Pecos Street. ACSO reports that the child appears to be mixed race or Hispanic.
Authorities say they received a 911 call from someone who saw the baby and stopped to help around 9:20 a.m. on Christmas.
Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency dispatch number at 303-288-1535.
Update – ACSO says the baby is being observed at Children’s Hospital as a precaution. In an update, ACSO said investigators were in contact with family members of the infant and are still investigating.
Authorities will pursue criminal charges if deemed appropriate.
Update 2 – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of both parents, Jarvis Sims and Christina Thurman.
Police say Sims and Thurman are charged with felony child abuse.
