Abbotsford, British Columbia – The Abbotsford Police Department is investigating a suspicious death. According to AbbyPD, officers responded to a vehicle fire within Sumas Mountain Regional Park along the Forest Service Road around 2:46 p.m. on January 3.

Police say officers found a red 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander that had been set on fire. After Abbotsford Fire & Rescue Service put out the fire, officers found what are believed to be human remains inside the burnt vehicle.

AbbyPD’s Major Crime Unit responded to investigate. The BC Coroners Service is working to identify the remains. No other details are available at this time.
