Gainesville, Georgia – The Gainesville Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect following a double shooting. According to a GPD statement, officers responded to a shooting at an encampment near Dorsey Street around 4 a.m. on December 24, 2024.
Police say two victims were found shot and the suspect had already fled the scene. Ashley Marie Hill was pronounced deceased at the scene while 36-year-old Marcus Robinson was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment, according to police.
GPD says it managed to identify the suspect as 37-year-old Demetrius Few with help from witnesses and other occupants of the camp. GPD officers and Hall County Sheriff’s deputies located Few and took him into custody.
Few has been charged with Malice Murder and Aggravated Assault. Police say additional charges are forthcoming.
