Rocky Ford Police arrest 22-year-old man for violent assault on police officer

Rocky Ford, Colorado – The Rocky Ford Police Department has announced the arrest of 22-year-old Adam Apodaca on charges of False Imprisonment, Harassment, and Child Abuse.

According to RFPD, officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of Locust Avenue for a domestic disturbance on December 23, 2024. Police say that Adam violently attacked the officer who was attempting to take him into custody.

RFPD says the officer was taken to Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center for treatment. The officer suffered a skull fracture and severe facial injuries. The officer, Mark Montano, has been with RFPD since January 2024.

He is now at home recovering with his family. Adam Apodaca was booked on charges of Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder in the 1st Degree of a Peace Officer, First Degree Assault of a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, False Imprisonment, and Criminal Attempt to Disarm a Peace Officer.
