Mount Vernon, Washington – The Mount Vernon Police Department has provided an update on the double shooting that injured a 50-year-old man and a 53-year-old man.
According to MVPD, officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 1600 block of South 3rd Street around 9 a.m. on December 24, 2024.
MVPD officers and Skagit County Sheriff’s Office deputies reached the scene and contacted several people. Police say two victims, a 50-year-old male and a 53-year-old male, were found injured at the scene.
The victims were transported to Skagit Valley Hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries. Police also say a subject was contacted outside the residence who is believed to be the suspect.
The suspect was taken into custody and a firearm was seized from the scene, according to MVPD.
Police say another subject in the residence reported that the suspect had pointed the gun at him. A 49-year-old man was booked into the Skagit County Jail on two counts of Attempted Murder in the first degree and one count of Assault in the first degree.
