Charles County Sheriff’s Office arrests man for pointing firearm at loaded school bus

Charles County, Maryland – The Charles County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for allegedly pointing a gun at a loaded Piccowaxen Middle School Bus.

According to CCSO, an arrest warrant was issued for 47-year-old Richard Williams Ellis for 16 counts of First-Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and other related offenses on December 20.

Police say Ellis is charged in connection to an incident that occurred on September 20 near Waverly Place. Ellis is accused of pointing a firearm toward the loaded school bus which was dropping off students.

On December 23, authorities attempted to arrest Ellis at his residence but he was not home. Authorities say Ellis turned himself later that day at CCSO’s District 1 Station.

He was booked into the Charles County Detention Center without bond.
