Pleasant Hill Police investigating shooting that injured adult and 7-year-old child

Pleasant Hill, California – The Pleasant Hill Police Department said in a social media statement that it is investigating a shooting that injured an adult and a child. Police confirm that two arrests have been made.

According to PHPD, it received calls about gunshots in the area of Contra Costa Boulevard and Vivian Drive around 11:49 a.m. on December 23, 2024. Officers located three vehicles that were involved in the incident.

Police say the driver of one of the vehicles, Larry Neal, had been hit by gunfire in the hand. A 7-year-old child was inside one of the vehicles and suffered minor injuries.

According to the Police Department, they were treated at local hospitals and released. Police believe the incident stemmed from a custody dispute between the parents of the injured child.

PHPD says the occupants of two of the vehicles exchanged gunfire with one another at close range. 38-year-old Alexis Sidney was arrested for Child Endangerment and Shooting at an Occupied Vehicle.

27-year-old Larry Neal was arrested for Child Endangerment, Shooting at an Occupied Vehicle, and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Both were booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
