San Luis Obispo, California – The San Luis Obispo Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to a hit-and-run collision on December 20. According to an SLOPD statement, it received a 911 call reporting a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle near the 50 block of Chorro Street around 1:02 p.m. on December 20, 2024.
Police say a 24-year-old female victim was lying near some parked vehicles with major, non-life-threatening injuries. The victim reportedly told police that she was struck by a passing vehicle and the driver did not stop.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Police say the investigating officers were able to determine the make and model of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was located in rural Arroyo Grande on December 21.
The driver, Todd Nelson, was arrested and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail, according to police. Nelson is charged with Felony Hit and Run Causing Great Bodily Injury, Driving with a Suspended License, and Misdemeanor Hit and Run (Parked Car).
