Charlotte Police say two students injured when school bus caught in exchange of gunfire

Charlotte, North Carolina – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says it is still investigating an Assault with a Deadly Weapon incident in the 8800 block of E.W.T Harris Boulevard on Monday afternoon.

According to CMPD, the investigation shows that a CMS school bus was caught in the crossfire between individuals involved in a narcotics-related dispute.

Although the bus was not the intended target, two students were treated for injuries from shattered glass. CMPD says officers observed 21-year-old Lamarius Ramel Anthony leaving the area.

Anthony was arrested for Felony Possession of Cocaine and Carrying Concealed Weapon.

Update – CMPD Violent Crime Apprehension Team detectives have announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to this incident. According to authorities, 20-year-old Paris Lewis Bynom was arrested on December 18, 2024.

Bynum is charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

Update 2 – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have announced the arrest of a third suspect in connection to this case. According to CMPD, 23-year-old Jaheim Boone was taken into custody and booked on the following charges.

  • 3x Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
  • 9x Discharge Weapon into Occupied Dwelling/Moving Vehicle
  • Possession with Intent/Manufacture/Sell Cocaine
  • 2x Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
  • Carrying Concealed Gun
  • Resist Delay/Obstruct Police Officer Discharge Duties

Police also say 21-year-old Joshua Woods was arrested on two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill and Felony Conspiracy.
