The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a suspect following the death of a woman on Friday morning. WCSO reports that deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive woman near the road outside a house in the 20500 block of Southwest Edy Road around 4:40 a.m. on December 13, 2024.
WCSO says paramedics and deputies found 64-year-old Mary McDowell deceased outside the home. According to authorities, McDowell lived at the residence and deputies also detained her partner, 38-year-old Jose Lucas Morfin Jr.
Violent Crimes Unit detectives and the interagency Major Crimes Team responded to investigate the death. Detectives say they arrested Morfin for assault in the second degree, unlawful use of a weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm.
WCSO confirms the investigation is ongoing.
