The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office reports that a person of interest has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder in the fatal shooting of Denis “Doc” Carmody. According to CCSO, deputies responded to the area of 16045 Nasturtium Drive in Punta Gorda around 1 a.m. on December 2.
At the scene, deputies reportedly located Carmody deceased with a single gunshot wound. CCSO says witnesses claimed Tiffany Diann May was present on the property with Denis. Witnesses also alleged that May had the victim’s chrome .38 caliber revolver.
Authorities say this was later confirmed by FDLE through the presence of May’s DNA on the firearm. FDLE also says it confirmed that the bullet that struck Carmody matched the gun in question.
CCSO says May was located by law enforcement in the area on the day of the incident and arrested on separate charges. She was booked into the Charlotte County Jail where she remains.
