Cape Coral Police arrest Lazaro Gonzalez Gonzalez in home invasion robbery

The Cape Coral Police Department has announced the arrest of a man called “Shroom” in connection to a home invasion robbery near the 4700 block of Southeast 5th Place in Cape Coral.

CCPD reports that its officers responded to a residence in the area around 8:49 a.m. on December 3, 2024. According to CCPD, officers determined that the crime was committed and assistance was requested from the Violent Crimes Unit.

Authorities say the victim said he was in his apartment playing video games when three suspects entered through the front door and began striking and threatening him. The suspects were wearing masks although the victim recognized one of the suspects as “Shroom”.

The victim reportedly told authorities that he owed “Shroom” $150 and had not yet paid him. “Shroom” allegedly said they were going to do $150 worth of damage and the debt would be even. CCPD says the victim was battered by all three suspects including one who pistol-whipped him.

Parts of the victim’s home were also allegedly damaged. CCPD says the suspects stole cash and fled the area. Authorities allegedly identified “Shroom” as Lazaro Gonzalez Gonzalez who was arrested on December 10, 2024.

Gonzalez was booked into the Lee County Jail for Home Invasion Robbery with a Firearm and Battery.
