The Greensboro Police Department has announced that a GPD vehicle was involved in a deadly collision. According to GPD, a marked GPD vehicle was traveling west on East Wendover Avenue at Summit Avenue when a collision occurred with a pedestrian in the roadway around 5:12 a.m. on Thursday.
GPD says the pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The victim has been identified as 54-year-old Tyrence Vann.
GPD says it had requested that the High Point Police Department conduct an independent investigation. The officer was not injured during the crash. The officer will be placed on administrative duty as part of standard protocols.
The officer’s name will be released following the completion of the DMV-349.
