The San Luis Obispo Police Department has announced the arrests of 26-year-old Rachel Lane Tomassi and 19-year-old Kalani Huihui.
According to SLOPD, a reporting party indicated that Tomassi was threatening to cause harm to a female acquaintance around 10:52 p.m. on December 4, 2024. Authorities say the reporting party provided a description of Tomassi and her vehicle.
Officers responded to the 1700 block of Corralitos where the female was staying. SLOPD says officers found a small fire burning in the middle of the street and the suspect’s vehicle leaving the immediate area.
Officers extinguished the fire and located a bottle filled with gasoline near the front door of the female’s residence. Officers believe the fire was likely a makeshift wick that fell out of the bottle as it was being thrown at the residence.
SOLPD says officers stopped the suspect vehicle and contacted the occupants, Tomassi and 19-year-old Kamakani Huihui. Police also allege that they were in possession of an unused “Molotov Cocktail” similar to the one found at the victim’s residence.
Tomassi and Huihui are charged with Attempted Arson, Conspiracy, Possession of Explosives – Flammable Matter, and Possession of a Destructive Device. They are being held on a $300,000 bond.
